Caregiver Support and Education

Being a caregiver is a challenging role. The time and effort you give to your loved ones can take away from personal life and is often very draining. We know you want what’s best for your loved one but it can be overwhelming. However, you cannot care for someone else if you don’t care for yourself properly.

Here are some strategies we will develop to decrease caregiver burden:

  • Finding activities that your loved one can participate in with less supervision

  • Creating a routine for your loved one to improve carry over of techniques and foster more autonomy

  • Decrease unwanted habits or behaviors to lessen burden of care

  • Provide caregiver education so you fully understand how to provide the correct amount of assistance during activities

  • Group therapy sessions for caregiver support

  • Use of Holistic Life Skills for yourself as a caregiver to develop your own core values, build activities that will be meaningful to you, and manage your time more efficiently

After working with individuals who have a brain injury, I’ve learned the importance of providing caregiver support and education. Throughout our sessions, support will always be offered.
